When Will I Get Dinged for Duplicate Content?

While I read the discussion forums and blogs these days, a lot of people are concerned about their sites being penalized for duplicate content. I am one of many people with this concern, since I have used other people’s articles on my blog to add fresh and authoritative content to my site. Some people feel that all the panic over duplicate content isn’t necessary once you really understand what duplicate content is and how the duplicate content filters really work. Others see it as a major concern. This article will explain what duplicate content is, when you may be penalized for it, and what you can do to avoid it.

Duplicate content is not only about the pages on a site being the same or too similar. It can also be different websites using the same or very similar template. I know this well, as my own site stems from a program that creates the same template for thousands of users, and we are constantly encouraged to change and customize our sites to make them different from everyone else’s. The reason duplicate content is deemed a bad thing from a search engine’s perspective is because it is considered spamming when people deliberately throw up a site, or content that is identical or very similar to another in hopes that they will get indexed higher and quicker in the search engines, or have more listings.

When the search engines discover this duplicate content on the sites they scan, they use a filter to remove the offending content. This is what getting “dinged” means. The problem is that most people write good, original content for their sites, but still get dinged because there is other same, or very similar content out there already. This hardly seems fair if you are an honest person, I know…

Role of CSS in web development

CSS plays a major role during web development. CSS or Cascading Style Sheets allow web designer link to documents in a web site design. It offers control over the various elements in the web pages of your website or portal.

CSS defines the structure and content of a web site it has little role to play in web design. CSS controls font, positioning, color and style information of the whole website. CSS is preferred by web developers for website development because they are lighter than table layouts and use less bandwidth. The style sheet is downloaded only once and stored in the cache, so relational pages down load faster.

Hyper Text Mark up Language is not enough when used in web development, but when integrated with CSS stronger and stable web pages are created. Web developers use CSS because it allows them to position their element where ever they want in the web page. During web development the web designer find it easy to link and make columns easily using CSS. CSS requires less maintenance for a web site.

CSS is combined with HTML or XHTML is compatible with all Internet web browsers. The websites that implement CSS appear similar in all the web browsers. CSS when used for HTML based web applications allows creating print friendly Web Pages.

Website Design Optimization

Is it possible to have an attractive website and still be optimized for search engines? The answer is absolutely yes! Of course we tend to be mis-guided about what will dazzle the visitor. It is not necessary to overwhelm your website with graphics, which will cause the page to download slower. Our intention is to provide you with tips that will still be attractive, while focusing on Easy Spider. Easy Spider is a term we use at our firm that will optimize the HTML code, but not the aesthetics of the website.

There is no question that most webmasters are developing websites that are complex and full of graphic design elements. Even though, we have faster connection speeds today compared to 10 years ago, we can go overboard and the page wills till download slowly. Of course the user will never wait that long for a website to load, and will move on to the next website in their search results.

One does have to ask the question why webmasters are still developing slow loading websites. Primarily due to a lack of knowledge. The knowledge of simple graphic optimization techniques that will allow them to maintain an attractive website while keeping the page size smaller.

Did you know that a box with rounded corners can be achieved using CSS code only, without the need for any graphic image? It is possible and although not prevalent with all web browsers, we are heading in the direction where the browsers will accept more CSS alternatives. However the point we are trying to make here is not about CSS vs. graphic images, but that we tend to be stagnant in our knowledge and do not keep up with the fast changing trends in web development.

How SEO Companies Create Gateway Pages

If you are thinking of hiring a professional SEO expert or a search engine positioning company one thing you might want to ask them is whether or not they are intending to create doorway pages, also known as gateway pages to optimize your site. This is a common tact of many SEO companies that is used to propel websites to the top of the search engine pages quickly but it is not necessarily a technique that is embraced or condoned by the search engines themselves. This works as long as a search engine like Google does not catch you and penalize you for spamming.

Still creating these gateway or doorway pages is the main service that search engine optimization experts actually enhance a site. What are they exactly? They are pages that these search engine-positioning companies create independent of your site that are stuffed with keywords and then submitted to the search engines. Of course these pages also have a link to your site.

Creating all of these pages is easier for these SEO companies then you think. Many of them use automated software like WebPosition Gold (WPG) to generate pages that will rank high for a search engine. Using a program like this an SEO company can create different doorway pages that are tailored to attract the different

These positioning companies will even go to the trouble to create different gateway pages for each search engine, using the WPG Page Critic function. This tool tells Webmasters what keyword density each engine supposedly wants to see (based on past results), and how many times you should put particular keyword phrases into the text and meta tags of the gateway pages. Rather than spend thousands on a professional you can get a copy of this program or one like it for under $200 (and even less if you look for similar products on Clickbank.)

Graphic Designers will Pay for your Photographs

You might think that you are not a top photographer, but if you take the right type of photographs, and the quality is good, then people will want to buy them.

Now you do need to remember that if you include people who can be recognized or a trademark which everybody will know then you have to have a release form signed by them. But think beyond the photos which have people in them. Try and imagine the headers and graphics used on niche sites, rather than money making sites.

It doesn’t take much imagination to think about diet and food sites, to know that photos of food products are in demand by webmasters. You will need to decide the type of foods you want to include in the photograph, and then set up the display of them.

The beauty of a digital camera is you will never take a bad shot. Now you might be thinking that isn’t true, but it is totally true and correct. You look at the shot you have taken, and then decide if it is a good or bad photograph. If it doesn’t come up to standard, then you either deleted it or decide not to save it. All you save are good photographs.

If you are using a camera with a film then you need to know that some photos will not come up to the standard for you to sell them. You might be able to make changes with photo enhancing software, but some people will not want to buy anything other than original photos.
